Let’s jump straight into the tips then, shall we?
Choose the Right Niche
Selecting the right niche is crucial.
Pick something you are passionate about and knowledgeable in.
You don’t need to be an expert but experience goes a long way.
Choosing something you actually enjoy will also reduce the risk of boredom and burn out.
You should also ensure there’s sufficient demand.
The easiest way to go about this is to browse Google and social platforms as a regular user to make sure there’s a community of like minded individuals to serve.
If nobody is searching for what you want to offer, there’s no sense in offering!
That said, chances are you aren’t the only person interested in your niche of choice. Still, double check to be on the safe side.
Start a blog or build a website
When it comes to choosing a platform to promote your affiliate offers, your own website or blog should be at the top of the list.
Relying on assets you don’t own (eg social media profiles) is a recipe for disaster.
Even YouTube channels aren’t risk free as YouTubers do not own their channels. Take it from someone who learned the hard way!
I grew my main channel to 100,000 subscribers and my second channel to 67,000 and both crashed during the infamous ad-pocalypse in late 2017.
My 43 million views didn’t matter. I could no longer make money.
My adsense was stripped away and my reach was limited, as though I’d been shadow banned. I couldn’t even make money as an affiliate marketer despite having a sizable audience.
If I could rewind and do it all over again, I’d choose blogging over YouTubing.
Unlike YouTubers, bloggers actually own their assets.
Of course, I can’t do that, so I had to start from scratch as a blogger.
For this reason, I strongly suggest setting up a blog to promote your affiliate offers, even if it’s alongside other social profiles.
Unsure how to set up a blog?

I cover everything from claiming a domain, hosting, creating a logo, curating a cohesive color scheme and so much more.
It’s the resource I WISH existed when I was just getting started.
Research Your Audience
Understand your audience’s needs, preferences, and problems.
The better you know your audience, the more effectively you can market products that solve their issues.
If you went with something you have experience in, you should be more than equipped to identify potential pitfalls your ideal audience face.
My target audience are vegan cruisers, who’s main concerns are in the cruise dining department.
My job as a blogger is to solve the problem of finding plant based food at sea and if my reader uses my recommended resources, I make commissions on cruises booked, travel insurance and travel essentials.
